Lynton Bridger
Graduated from Massey University in 1971and employed at several NZCDC casein factories, gaining his Dairy Factory Managers registration at the Paerata casein factory. He later moved into quality assurance in the company''s London Street head office.
Extensive OE followed and from a teaching position in a village in northern Zambia, returned to Wellington to join the Quality Assurance Division of the New Zealand Dairy Board and then as a Senior Technical Officer in the Casein Division.
During his 9 years with the NZDB he had postings as Regional Manager Tanubada Dairy Products, a NZDB facility in Papua New Guinea based in Lae and then with another NZDB manufacturing operation in Jamaica.
In the late 1980s, he joined NZ Casein Plastics in Masterton as Managing Director. The company manufactured buttons from rennet casein.
In 1995 he moved to Hawera to join Kiwitech Ltd ( a subsidiary of Kiwi Dairies Ltd) as Technical Manager.
KiwiTech (latterly FonterraTech) was established to commercialise innovative technologies, most dairy based.
It was during this time he developed novel, high value applications for casein and other milk proteins and also for colostrum based bioactives.
Two years ago he took up the position of Sector Manager Biotechnology, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, the Government''s economic development agency.
