Janine Cooney

Dr Janine Cooney is a chemist at HortResearch and runs the HortResearch LC-MS facility. She has a strong background in chemical characterisation, specialising in LC-MS of small molecules, peptides and proteins with particular emphasis on proteomics and NMR spectroscopy. Other research interests include the chemical identification, microbial biotransformation and mode of action in biological control systems of fungal secondary metabolites, development of analytical methods including ELISA and the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for isolation, selective sorption and sample enrichment of selected analytes.

Janine is part of both the Nutrigenomics Objective 3 and 4 teams. Her main role in both objectives is compound identification using LC-MS.
